Birdon America Inc. was awarded a contract to conduct a Service Life Extension Program (SLEP) on the 47’ Motor Lifeboats (MLBs) owned by the United States Coast Guard (USCG).
The 47C MLB is designed to perform mission activities in adverse weather and sea conditions. Its primary mission is surf/heavy weather SAR, but it is designed to support multi-mission operations.
The 47C MLB is capable of speeds up to 25 knots. The 47C MLB’s mission profile is to safely conduct Search and Rescue (SAR) missions and to do so even in high surf and heavy weather conditions.
Secondary missions require the MLB to support Marine Safety, Ports Waterway and Coastal Security (PWCS), Drug Interdiction, Migrant Interdiction, Defense Readiness, Aids to Navigation (ATON) and Waterways Management, Marine Environmental Protection, Living Marine Resources (LMR), and Other Law Enforcement.
CHAND’s logistics support services included the development of the following: Integrated Support Plan, Interim Contractor Logistics Support (ICLS) Plan, Warranty Book, Master Equipment Configuration List (MECL); Serial Number Report (SNR), Special Tools List, Provisioning, Recommended Spares Lists, Technical Data Index, COTS Manuals, Boat Information Book, Training Materials, and Training Conduct (classroom and underway).
